DOT Drug Screening

DOT Drug Screening

The United States Department of Transportation holds the highest standards for Custody and Control compliance in the industry. They set specific regulations which must be followed without error in order to admit any drug test for regulatory compliance purposes. All of our technicians are trained and certified in US DOT Custody & Control procedures and must undergo refresher training a minimum of every five years.

We offer standard, split urine specimen collections as required for DOT drug tests. Whether you need to complete a random, pre-employment, reasonable suspicion, return to duty, or follow-up DOT drug test, Binary Health Services is there to help you along the way.

Who needs a DOT drug test?

Any employee or owner of a company regulated by the DOT may require a DOT drug test as part of a Drug Free Workplace policy. This includes heavy truck drivers regulated by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), those regulated by the United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), employees under the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), aviation employees and pilots regulated by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), train and railway employees regulated by the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), operators and employees regulated by the Federal Transit Administration, employees regulated by the Pipeline and Hazardous Material Safety Administration, and members and contractors of the United States Coast Guard (USCG).

What should I bring?

Employees selected for screening should bring photo-identification. Either an employee ID badge or a government-issued photo identification. They should also bring all necessary forms as provided by the Employer’s Designated Employer Representative (DER) including the Federal Custody and Control Form (FCC).

What should I expect?

The US DOT requires that both the collector and the employee follow strict procedural guidelines. Pay close attention to the instructions provided by our representatives and your visit will be quick and stress-free.

In a standard DOT collection, you will be asked to provide identification, verify personal information, and to select a specimen collection container. You will then be instructed to enter the designated restroom and fill the container to the minimum level without flushing or washing your hands. You will then return to the representative and observe the packaging of the split specimen, initial the container to verify that it belongs to you and sign a statement affirming your consent for the screen. Once complete, you will be provided with a copy of the Custody and Control form; we handle the rest!

Will I get the results the same day?

The US DOT requires that all urine specimen screenings be confirmed at a DOT certified laboratory. Results typically take between three and five days to process.
